Owl on the wire

Writing

The owl on the wire
Power twitching beneath the grasp of claws
The drone of traffic
grumbling
bumper to bumper
It turns his head
to view the Natural world below
Grey sky above
The gust of wind through a ruffle of feathers

Washi tape

Supplies

I knew about washi tape for a little while. I didn’t really get it then. Not until after I really started to get into journalling again that I realized the appeal of using washi tape; a quick way to stick photos and notes or a neat way to divide space on paper.

Mom's Birthday Card

Cards

A little while ago was my mother’s birthday. She’s always been an inspiration for me artistically, so I absolutely had to make something from scratch.

I was at the craft store and came across this item called grunge paper. It’s a fairly thick soft cardboard like material that is almost rubbery. I think there’s a lot more potential with this material than I accomplished this time. I cut out some butterfly wings and used my Shinhan markers to fade colors in.

I didn’t think too far ahead what I was going to do for the butterfly body, so I found some scrap paper that I folded for structure and wrapped the string around it for texture. Glue gun makes everything stick together!

I think it came out prettier than I thought because it was a spur of the moment crafting. At least my mom was happy and that’s what matters. <3

Keeping Organized

Supplies

I went to a gaming convention recently, absolutely not intending to look or get any art supplies. Yet, there was a vendor there that was an art supply store. OMG they were selling Shinhan markers for a great price. I stood staring at the rack for at least half an hour debating what markers I already owned. I knew I had to take the opportunity to purchase some because Shinhan is harder to find in stores in my area.

Because I wasted about an hour of my life debating markers, I decided to catalogue the colors I own just in case I ever happen across another sale. Sometimes, it’s actually useful being organized.

RAH kit USA

Supplies

@radandhungry delivering from the USA. These notebooks just feel vintage. Reporter style flip with an almost leathery cover. Neat pockets that I’ll probably glue into larger notebooks for small notes. Some sweet pencils, including a jumbo!

I’ve recently started getting into stamp making. Sometimes raiding office supply closets can produce items that people just don’t use anymore that can be repurposed. This item used to have a “MAILED” stamp, but who needs that anymore when most offices are paperless?

I peeled off the old stamp and found that the backing was still sticky enough. I had to slice down the rubber so that it would be thin enough to fit in the case and then I used the usual technique of chipping away to create my stamp. It came out surprisingly better than I thought it would. 😀

RAH kit Chile and Korea

Supplies

Just a quick blip on some RAH kits received recently. Chile’s kit pretty cute with the “college” design. The hotness is in the pencils and the stamp.

Korea’s kit is just beautiful. That badge is money right there. The notebook is definitely in the top list, love the character on the cover.
