This is the first go at making a stamp. I’m pretty pleased with how it came considering the size of it. Took about an hour just trying to carve it out.

illustrationRAH kit for France
SuppliesAnother great kit from @radandhungry. I do have a previous France kit that came with a pretty folder/notebook cover that fits perfectly. Makes this kit a nice supply replenish. Love the texture of the mini notebook. Sepia tone paper works nicely with ink. Red pencil and chunky prism like pencil love!

SketchbookRAH kit for Sweden
SuppliesQuick little post on this RAH kit. Love the GIANT paperclips! I’ve really been into using paperclips as bookmarks for so many notebooks and sketchbooks, so this drop is perfect timing.
RAH kit for Denmark
SuppliesA @radandhungry post for the art blog. I usually post to my tumblr, but I felt like I could start posting stationery reviews on this little art blog of mine.
To catch you up to date, Rad and Hungry is a little business I stumbled upon over a year ago while I was poking across the net for notebooks. I can’t remember exactly how I found it, but it has been an awesome find. Each month a kit goes out full of stationery from a specific country. This kit comes from Denmark.
The Denmark kit is by far the highest quality stuff I’ve seen (at least it’s my favourite since all kits are pretty quality). This time I put in a little extra in for the booster pack too. I’ve already received a blank and dotted notebook, so for this pack I chose to go with the lined option. The most awesomest part of this pack was the GIANT sketch pencil and the all-blank notebook. Getting these kits have made me a fan of Viking and makes the “Always Buy” list for me.
some more sketchbook express
SketchbookEven though drawing on a 13″ laptop seems kind of annoying because the screen is so small, it’s convenient to sit on the couch while the TV is on and doodle.
I’ve tried to sit myself in front of my desktop and use Corel Painter X but for some reason the application feels cruder than I remember it. Maybe because I have that version installed on my Winbox or maybe it’s because the version of the software is over 5 years old. Or maybe it’s just because the chair I have sucks.
At least Sketchbook Express is beginning to grow on me. One doodle before the new year and one doodle after. I definitely like the second better because it looks softer but it’s just nice to see something complete.
Sketchbook Project mailed!
ProjectsI finally submitted (on time no less!) my sketchbook from the project I signed up to do.
This was hard to complete for me. If I did have more time, I would’ve done more ink work and perhaps may have even used other colors. The most difficult part was keeping up with the idea I started with. Somehow I knew it would come out to a bunch of portraits. I wanted to add more text to each image but thinking of titles or headlines is the worst part.
I’m just glad that I feel like I completed something, especially so early in the new year. I’ll post an update when they post the scanned version. (Hopefully that blue pencil comes out.)
3doodler
CraftsKickstarter is an interesting beast. The first fund I decided to jump on was the 3doodler.
I am not disappointed. It works like a hybrid glue gun and solder iron. Since the holidays came and went, I haven’t had too much time yet to go into more in depth designs, but as it’s aptly named, I like how these doodles came out. There is a bit of a learning curve because melty plastic is not a precise tool. However, once you get the handle of “soft plastic suggestion”, you can start forming what you envision.
