some more sketchbook express

Sketchbook

Even though drawing on a 13″ laptop seems kind of annoying because the screen is so small, it’s convenient to sit on the couch while the TV is on and doodle.

I’ve tried to sit myself in front of my desktop and use Corel Painter X but for some reason the application feels cruder than I remember it. Maybe because I have that version installed on my Winbox or maybe it’s because the version of the software is over 5 years old. Or maybe it’s just because the chair I have sucks.

At least Sketchbook Express is beginning to grow on me. One doodle before the new year and one doodle after. I definitely like the second better because it looks softer but it’s just nice to see something complete.

Happy Christmas

I woke up Christmas morning and unwrapped a new Wacom Intuos Pro – small. THAAAANK YOU SO MUCH my dear!

I hooked it up to my laptop and then realized that I didn’t have my copy of Corel Painter X installed. So I searched Apple’s App store for something free to doodle with and found Sketchbook Express. It’s a neat little app but I have to get used to the interface. I think I still may prefer Painter. Above is the doodle that I made in a few minutes.

I debated for a long time about what to put on my wishlist; staring at websites and crunching numbers on different tablets (which also included new computing set ups as well). The best option right now was a basic drawing tablet. What I hope for in the future is a reasonably priced stand alone drawing tablet (real operating computing system). Wacom is almost there but the Companion model is completely overpriced right now. Let’s see what goodies next year will bring us.

I drew this a while ago. Been tweaking it and waiting for some time to just color it. Today I just said eff it and I’ll use pen. Pen is a pretty nice tool for shading. I’ll have to do some more stuff in pen.
